DAMPERS
Older types of dampers have a metal-to metal seal, whereas newer types of dampers are sealed with a silicone gasket which seals warm air 90% more effectively.
Also, this type of energy saving damper protects your chimney from water damage during the times that the fireplace is not in use and keeps animals from entering the chimney.

CHIMNEY CAPS
Why do chimneys need caps? Rain, rain and more rain! Water causes numerous damages to chimneys including loosening the mortar, destruction of the chimney liner and can destroy chimney crowns.
Chimney caps are custom made and greatly protect your chimney from water damage. Moreover, if your chimney has more than one flue, it is recommended to have a cap that covers not only the flues, but the entire chimney.

CHASE COVERS
Chase covers are a metal cover on top of a masonry or wooden chase structure. Chase covers protect your home by keeping water out and away from the brick, helps prevent moisture from saturating the insulation of the walls and sheet rock.
Although chase covers are very helpful, they only have an average lifespan of about 7 years. Like any metal, water causes the chase cover to rust and in many cases you may not see the damage and/or rust that has built up underneath the chase cover, which can lead to further damage to the chimney itself.
